Video games continue to be a hot item and will be well into the future. You can turn this entertainment trend into a profitable home-based business with just a small investment and snowball you profits. This business opportunity is easy to work from home, and can double your investment over and over again. It doesn't take much time to work. A few hours a week will keep it running nicely. It can grow steadily until you get a nice income without too much effort.

As exciting as video games are, one can only play a game for so long before getting bored. But video games are far too expensive to put away in a drawer to collect dust. The used video game market is booming as gamers try to recover some cash from their old games and purchase used games to stretch their buying power.

Getting started in this business is easy, but takes a little cash to get going. First, you need to place a few small ads in local newspapers. Nothing fancy. A simple classified ad will do. "I Buy Used Video Games - 888-555-1234". You can even have some business cards printed with the same info and leave them in public areas. That works great, too.

When someone calls, you get the game title and the gaming system it is for. Then go to Amazon.com to check the prices for that game. You can safely offer 50% of the LOWEST price offered. If a game is selling for $9.00 you can pay $4.50. If the seller agrees you make the arrangements to buy the game.

Now it's time to sell the game. I use Amazon for all of my video game and DVD sales and recommend that you do the same. Create a seller account at Amazon.com and list your game for sale. If the game and packaging are in very good condition you can list it for a little more than the lowest price. I usually list for $1 more than the low price anyway because I use priority mail for all of my shipping. It costs a little bit more than the shipping allowance set by Amazon, but in my opinion it is worth it. The USPS provides priority mail DVD shipping boxes free of charge. That would cost you more than the difference in shipping if you had to purchase boxes at the store, so it's almost an even trade off. Priority mail also gives you delivery confirmation for free if you use Click-N-Ship and pay online.

Amazon handles the sale, credits your account, and gives you shipping info. Print your packing slip, create your label with postage using Click-N-Ship and drop it at the post office.

Another variation of this business opportunity that can increase your sales volume and profits is to attend yard sales, garage sales, and estate sales to purchase used games and DVDs in bulk. You can often make an offer to purchase all DVDs for around 50-75 cents each. If someone has 20 DVDs, offer $10 for all. Go to $15 if you must. The worst they can do is say no, and you will be surprised at how many times you hear "yes". You can usually double or triple your money, and sometimes you get a valuable items that fetches a good price. Games will require a bigger investment, but will fetch good profits if you are careful to buy only newer games. Simply ask what they will take for all of the games. When you get a response do the math. If you can get them for a couple of bucks a game, go for it.
